Active Heating and Cooling

What is it?

Active heating and cooling encompass heating and cooling that require controlled energy in the form of gas, oil, electricity and/or human intervention to function. Fans, boilers, air conditioners and heat pumps are all forms of active heating and cooling.

What are the benefits?

Using active heating and cooling allows for rapid, precise, and on-demand control of the indoor environment. When it“s” too hot outside for passive cooling to work, an air conditioner or swam cooler can be switched on. When it“'s” too cold and cloudy for solar heating, a heat pump can warm up a room through radiant floor coils.

How does Exup approach Active Heating and Cooling?

Active heating and cooling is responsible for most of the energy costs in a building. Because it uses so much energy, Exup designs tend to use the most efficiency technology available. Ground source heat pumps, recovery ventilators, and evaporative cooling are all extremely efficient technologies.

Whether it’s mission critical to lower fuel needs, as in a high-threat environment, or it helps low-income families devote money to food instead of energy bills, every heating and cooling measure is carefully measured for benefit vs cost.
