Air Purification and Ventilation
Is clean air a problem?
According to the EPA, indoor air can be more polluted than the outdoor air of large, industrialized cities. Since on average we spend 90% of our time indoors, indoor air quality is a major concern.
How does Exup purify indoor air?
The first way to clean up the indoor air environment is to avoid building with unhealthy materials. Building with inert or healthy materials eliminates most sources of volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and other toxins that are a part of every conventional building on the market.
Once a building is no longer producing toxic gas, the next step is to purify air coming in from the outside. To address outdoor air pollution, Exup uses both active and passive systems, from landscaping outside to indoor greenhouses that gently clean air to high technology ozone and ultraviolet light systems that provide sterile air suitable for hospital environments.
Why does Exup care so much about air quality?
Post disaster:
In the environments that Exup operates in, clean air can mean life or death. In post-disaster areas disease can spread quickly through a population where there is nowhere to hide from airborne contaminants. Providing pure indoor air helps inhabitants rebuild faster as well as providing the long term benefits that accrue to a healthy population.
High-threat:
In high-threat environments, hostile forces can release chemical or biological airborne contaminants that can quickly debilitate a security force. Even something as innocuos as a constant cough can severely compromise security. By making every building a “save haven”,a healthy environment is maintained and contaminants are quickly destroyed, keeping everybody healthy and fit to work.
