Bio Filtration

What is it?

Bio-filtration is the intelligent use of plants to clean the indoor environment. Using plants to clean indoor air is nothing new, as many indoor gardeners will tell you. The difference between indoor gardening as a hobby and bio-filtration as an air-purifying technique is in the details; which plants to use, which mosses, and how to get air to flow through effectively are all questions that must be answered in a bio-filtration system.

How does it work?,

Indoor air is cycled through a packing material covered with active mosses and green plants. Working together, the mosses and plants scrub VOCs and carbon monoxide from the air, as well as replacing carbon dioxide with clean oxygen. The air is then sent back to the living space, recycled and cleaned by the green machines that have had thousands of years of evolution to perfect their operation.

Why does Exup use it?

Of all the air filters on the market, bio-filters are the only ones that have a potentially unlimited lifetime. Every other filter must eventually be cleaned and replaced, and at that point they are so swollen with toxins they can qualify as toxic waste! Additionally, bio-filters with green plants not only purify the air, they add humidity and recharge indoor oxygen levels.
