Wind Power

What is it?

Wind power is the fastest growing renewable energy technology today, mainly because wind power is cheaper to produce than any other kind of renewable energy, costing as little as 3.5 cents/kWh commercially and 5 to 7 cents/kWh in a residential setting.

What are the benefits?

Wind turbines don't take up much space, a valuable characteristic in areas where land is at a premium. In the picture on this page, you can make out a Volkswagen Golf at the bottom left of this wind tower. A tower like this can provide enough electricity for between 200 and 300 average U.S. households.

Wind turbines are quiet, don't pollute, and are relatively sturdy. They are an excellent addition to a renewable energy portfolio because when the sun ain’t shining...it’s usually windy.

Why does Exup use wind turbines?

Wind turbines can produce energy in places when solar isn't working, and vice versa. In windy mountain passes in the earthquake hit region of Pakistan, wind energy could provide enough electricity to power every house in an Exup development.
