Rainwater Catchment

What is it?

Rainwater catchment involves using the roof of every building as a giant bowl to catch water from the sky. Whether in the extreme climate of Iraq or the wet season in Indonesia, rainwater catchment offers major benefits for buildings designed to be independent.

What are the benefits??

Rainwater is one of the cleanest sources of water, allowing for minimal treatment and filtration. This cuts down on machinery and operating costs. Rainwater is also free, allowing buildings to "produce" their own water. In turn, this decreases or eliminates the need for water to be trucked onto a camp in a high-threat environment, and can bring water costs to zero.

How does Exup use rainwater?

Every Exup building is designed to maximize rainwater value. Rainwater from each building can drain into many small cisterns or one large one, depending on the requirements of the camp. In high-threat areas, dispersing storage of important water supplies is important to protect the water resource of a camp.

From the faucet to the garden.

Exup water designs use rainwater to supply everything from showers to faucets to irrigation for food production. With water demand becoming greater and greater, using rainwater makes more and more sense for buildings in high-threat, hostile, and post-disaster environments.
