Recycling

Recycling water?

To most people, recycling involves using the “blue” bin, and working with plastic and metals. To Exup, everything is recyclable, including water. First, an examination of standard municipal plumbing is in order.

Conventional Plumbing

Unbelievable as it seems, all water in a conventional house is sent out of the same pipe. Water used to wash hands, shower and bath water, and water used to flush toilets all combine in one pipe, where they flow to a water treatment plant. At the water treatment plant millions of units of energy are used to separate clean water from the soiled, and that clean water is then pumped back to the building.

This is an example of paying for water twice, and using it once. Water bills and sewage bills are separate, although they use the same material, water, to service a building.

Exup Style Plumbing

By changing the rubric around to using water twice and paying for it once, Exup can help save both environmentally and economically. Instead of combining water flows as they leave the building, Exup combines them while they are still inside. By diverting sink, bath, or shower water to the toilet tank where it is used to flush the toilet, Exup designs use water twice while paying for it once.
